Show Measles Epidemic Greatly Improved The epidemic of measles, which has been prevailing throughout Gunnison, Gun-nison, Mayfield and Fayette,' resulting result-ing in the quarantining of many homes and reducing the school attendance at-tendance slightly, is greatly improved, improv-ed, according to Dr. J". A. Hagan, city health officer. Last week many I new cases were reported, both in the German and what is known as the red measles, and a strict quarantine was ordered. The results have been highly gratifying and Dr. Hagan thinks that within another week or ten days the disease will have disappeared. dis-appeared. Little regard was first given to the quarantine regulations and for this reason the disease got a good headway and many homes had from one to three patients. Some few are expected to be stricken as exposures have been made and in some cases the malady has broken out on victims vic-tims in the school rooms. With tl precautions now being taken and the strict observance of the quarantine 1 laws the disease is will under control con-trol . Fortunately there has been no i-talities i-talities from the red measles, which are regarded as very bad. Extra precautions have been taken and while some of the smaller children afflicted with the disease at Fayette were, very sick,, they have been piloted pilot-ed through to safety and are past, the danger point. Dr. Hagan stated that while the disease is on the decline, de-cline, parents are advised to keep a close watch on the children and to promptly report at the first indication indica-tion of the disease. |
