Show Mrs. Martha Childs Answers Final Call Mrs. Martha Elizabeth Childs, aged j 09 years, died at her home in this j city last Tuesday morning shortly : after 7 o'clock. Death ended a long j period of .suffering as Mrs. Childs has been in poor health for the past 30 years, suffering from chronic stomach trouble. For the past three weeks she had been confined to her bed and her sufferings were most severe and relief re-lief came when death closed the eyes of the estimable woman. Mrs. Childs was bom at Ogden, November 16, 1856, and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William Gribble. With her parents she came to Gunnison more than 50 years ago and had resided here since. Some 49 years ago she was married to Ed. B. Childs and to the union was born eight children, seven of whom survive- Mrs. Childs was a devoted member of the L. D. S. church and before she was stricken was an active worker in the Relief society and the auxiliary organfzations. Notwithstanding- the fact she was in poor health, she had a i kindly and lovable disposition and was ! always ready to lend help to the needy j and sick. Besides the husband, the surviving i children are Ed. S. Childs, and Floyd Childs of this city, Alonzo Childs of Bancroft, Idaho, Mrs. Geo. Halverson, Mrs. Chas. Lund and Mrs. Myrtel Ericksen of Salt Lake, Mrs. Aaron Breinholt of Ephraim, and twenty-four twenty-four grandchildren. Funeral services will be held this, Thursday, afternoon at one o'clock . from the Relief Society hall. |
