Show Premier Band For State University The University of Utah expects to have one of the largest and best equipped bands in the state fur next : year, according to (he plans that have j been worked out along this line. It is j ' i he intention of the Stale University: to have a large, well organized musical mu-sical unit which will not only be presented pre-sented to the public in concert work but which will also be present at all athletic functions to augment the student body enthusiasm. Plans have been completed whereby the services of Warrant Officer L. A. Yost, Bandmaster of the 38th Infantry, Infan-try, have been procured. Mr. Yost, who has had a great deal of experience experi-ence in organizing and conducting large military bands, will have complete com-plete charge of the University unit which, under his expert supervision, promises to make an eviable record. Through the University It. O. T. C. unit, 40 new military band instruments, instru-ments, valued at $250 apiece have been furnished by the government. " These instruments may be borrowed free of charge by those who are interested in-terested and wish to take ud band .work while at school, thus making it possible for some students to study music where they would otherwise be unable to because of the high price that must be paid for an instrument. These instruments, along with the number already owned by the school and the number of individually owned instruments furnished each year by the student musicians, will make a band of approximately GO to 70 pieces or the University of Utah. |
