Show AMNESTY REFUSED. Washington, Dec. 25. Senator Shoup of Idaho does not believe that President Harrison will issue a proclamation granting amnesty to the disfranchised polygamlsts in Utah and the other territories. When I asked him this evening upon what be predietel this belief, he replied frankly th it he could give no satisfactory reason; that be had not talked with President Harrison regarding the proclamation proclama-tion but that in a general way be did not fhiiik the president would take any action in the matter. He thinks President Harrison will let it go over until the next administration, adminis-tration, thus permitting Mr. Cleveland to issue the proclamation proclama-tion should he so desire. Herald. |
