Show Pioneer Stockman Passes Suddenly At his ranch near Redmond, Jarrrs Walter Hoggan, pioneer rancher : J stockman of Redmond and Mi.iiti, died suddenly last Friday night. -Mr. Ic)ggan was seventy-two years of age and seemingly enjoyed good heal. h. His sudden death came as a surp: j and shock to his family and friends. Mr. Hoggan came to Utah with the early pioneers. He was born at Dumferline, Scotland, February 25, 1855, joined the L. D. S. church when he was nine years old, and accompanied accompa-nied his parents across the plains after af-ter emigrating to America. His parents par-ents first resided at Manli, where Mr. Hoggan grew to manhood and married mar-ried Salah Rosser, who passed away several years ago. Mr. Hoggan was a prominent citizen of Manti, where he engaged in building work and sheep-raising. He later moved to Redmond, where he has been engaged engag-ed in ranching for several years. Deceased is survived by the following fol-lowing children of his first wife: Mrs. James Williams of Calexioo, Calif.; Ross, Walter, William and Allen Al-len Hogs-an and Mrs. B. H. Anderson Ander-son of Los Angeles, Miss Isabel! Ho-rgan of Salt Lake, and Edwaid Dale Hoggan, on a mission in New Zeal?nd. He is also survived by a second wife, Mrs. Alice Nelson, of Chicago, -and three children, Alice, Marvin and Edna. At the time of going to press definite defi-nite arrangements had not been made for the funeral. |
