Show Local Cagers Will Battle Richfield The( Gunnison Valley high school "cagers" will make their debut tomorrow, to-morrow, Friday night, in the first appearance in the Sevier division of the basket ball schedule. The opening open-ing game for Gunnison was scheduled schedul-ed for last Friday but due to sickness sick-ness and the final check of eligibility eligibil-ity from the state athletic association at Salt Lake, the opening game for Gunnison was posponed until tomorrow tomor-row night. Richfield will be the entertainers' for the opener here and all indications point to one of the most spirited games seen here for some time. Richfield, in her opening play with Monroe, carried off the honors. This was the first victory Richfield had staged with Monroe for seven years and the Seveir county metropolis boys are a "bunch" of whirlwinds, according accord-ing to the dope sheet. While Richfield has been boasting of her laurels and making a win on her first try-out, it must not be for- gotten that Gunnison is sporting one of the fastest teams in the league. In the many pre-season games six of vhich the Gunnison boys played,five victories were scored, and the vigorous vigor-ous training had under Coach Harold Har-old Bradley, the quint will be in fine shape for their antagonists. In the line-up for the opening game will be "tubbs, Mortensen, Modeen, Bauer and Childs, with Foote and Erickson on the relief line. Gunnison fans are deeply interested interest-ed in the local players and it is expected ex-pected a record-breaking' crowd will attend the opening of the schedule here. Following the game members of the high school will entertain at a dancing danc-ing party and for this occasion splendid splen-did music has been retained. |
