Show LOCAL ITEMS j OF INTEREST j The Hamilton ward Relief society met at the home of Mrs. Christena Christensen Thursday afternoon ot last week, and joined in celebrating the birthday anniversary of Mrs. Christensen. The afternoon features were a splendid program, dainty refreshments re-freshments and a social time. The honor guest was presented with -i substantial purse as a remembrance of her birthday. V. A. Tompkins, traveling freight agent for the Denver and Rio Grande, and Mrs. Tompkins, Salt Lake City, are the house guests at the home of Mr. ' and Mrs. Ira Overfelt. Mr. Tompkins is here looking after the interests of his company. Mrs. Emma Kearns entertained the members of the Hamilton ward Relief Re-lief society Tuesday at a social afternoon. af-ternoon. A short program of music and recitations, followed by refreshments, refresh-ments, proved enjoyable features. Mr. and Mrs. F. A. Beck and Mr. and Mrs. W. G. Roylance of this city, and Mr. and Mrs. Jas. H. Sand erson of Manti, comprised a party from this section that attended the Black Hawk encampment at Heber and the Uintah Basin Industrial convention held at Duchesne last week. Both functions, the returning pilgrims ! stated, were highly successful. In addition to attending the festivities at Duchesne and Heber, the travelers visited various parts of the basin and report a splendid time. ! E. L. Hancock, 'representing Smith-Hancock, Smith-Hancock, wholesale dealers, Salt Lake, was here Tuesday of this week and was in conference with the cauliflower cauli-flower griwers in the Japanese colony col-ony in the Clarion district. Shipments Ship-ments of cauliflower have been, started start-ed on a small scale and it is announced an-nounced that by next week several carloads will be sent to the Salt Lake markets. Mrs. Royal Buchanan and Miss Dorothy Buchanan are here from Manti and have joined Mr. Buchanan, who has accepted a po?'ition as meat, cutter at the Star Mar.-ket. The Buchanans Bu-chanans are occupying quarters at the Ncphi Gledhill home. Mr. and Mrs. James Bown returned to their home in this city Tuesday evening after spenrling a few days at Provo. They motored to the Garden City Sunday anj Monday attended the elaborate wedding of their niece, Miss Lucile Bown, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lafe Bown. ... Mayor and Mrs. Parley Christian-Fen, Christian-Fen, who spen t an eight-day vacation in eastern parts of Utah, have returned re-turned to their home in Gunnison. While away, Mayor and Mrs. Christiansen Chris-tiansen attended the Black Hawk encampment en-campment at Heber City, the Uintah Basin Industrial convention at Duchesne Du-chesne and visited in Price and other points. They were absent eight days. |
