Show Aged Farmer Is . Severely Injured j John Larson. 73 year.-, of age and j one of the most prominent residents of the valley, barely escaped death last Saturday when he was plunged ! from a load of hay upon which he j was riding, falling into a pile of j rocks. Mr. Larson received an ugly cut on the top of his head and he j was severely bruised about the body and legs. Arthur Larson, his son, was also thrown from the load of hay, but escaped more fortunately, only or.e of his knees being badly wrenched. The accident happened when the Larsons w-ere hauling a load of hay and in passing a dugway the load toppled. The elder Larson was thrown into the hollow place next to the road and was completely covered by the hay. He fell upon a pile of jagged rocks and a big gash was cut and bruised in the top of his head. Arthur Larson, the son, in charge of the horses, managed to hold the team and when quieted he ran to the assistance of his father. Mr. Larson was taken from underneath the. load and was unconscious at the time and remained so for more than two hours. Dr. Hagan was hastily summoned and gave relief to the injured man. It required several stitches to close the big gash in the top of the head of the injured man. At the first examination exam-ination it was thought that two of the J'ibs had been fractured, but developments de-velopments later show that the ribs were only badly bruised. The gash in the head cut to the skull, and it is a miracle that Mr. Larson escaped with bia life. Reports from the bedside of the injured man are to the effect that ho is progressing splendidly and that It will only be a matter of a few days until he will lie able to be up and about. |
