Show THE AIR FLIVER An airplane 1 5 feet long and equipped with a 1 2-horsepower motor has been brought to this country from France and proven successful suc-cessful in every test. The inventor declares he will make it as popular as the automobile, and he has made offers to Henry Ford in hope that that gentleman will take up production of it. He says Mr. Ford could make them in such quaintities as to sell them as cheaply as he now sells his autos. That may be. But we'll leave it to any right-thinking man in Gunnison if this country is ready to have airplanes cutting around in the clouds as promiscously as autos now run along the streets and country roads. They can't make an auto fool-proof, and neither can they make an airplane that wouldn't meet with accidents. The possibility of having one drop on a fellow's head when he was using that head in an endeavor to keep out of the way of an auto isn't pleasant. We're for airplanes, all ri&ht. But we never want to see them get so cheap that everybody every-body will be able to own one. |
