Show THE ZEBRA. A Promising New Mine on the Foothills Noar ItrlKhum. . Last month, R. S. Johnson of this city, discovered a promising ledge at tlie lower end of Dunn's canyon, southeast of Brigham. An assay showed that the surface rock went $20 to the ton in galena, silver and gold. Since then R. S- and Mark Johnson and Magnus Benson, the owners, have done considerable work on the properly. They sank a 25-foot shaft and are at present digging into J.bo great mountain on a 25-foot incline. They are encountering en-countering decomposed while, gi-ay and black quartz that will run up pretty well in iron, lead, silver and gold. The ore is considered valuable valu-able enough to keep. Four to five tons of it arc now .standing on the dump in saeks. The mine is called (ho "Zebra" from the peculiar and regular quartz stripings that are seen in tfie sides of the tunnel. Samples of ore from the bottom of the mine have been sent to Salt Lake for assay and if the returns are as satisfactory as anticipated, J. B. Carrington has agreed to advance ad-vance $1,500 toward developing the new find. The boys have had several sev-eral offers from people who were "taken" with the samples. |
