Show WANT SHORTER HOURS. Railway Employes Want Eight-Hour Day and Pay for Overtime. Chicago. Nearly 400,000 employees in the transportation and yard service began voting Monday on two demands to be made upon all railroads In the United States. These call for the eight-hour day and time and one-half for overtime. If adopted as proposed by a joint committee of represents tives of the four brotherhoods, the demand will be presented to the railroads rail-roads in March. The ballots were distributed among the engineers, firemen, conductors, trainmen, switchmen and baggagemen. |
