Show Santa Glaus Visits Gunnison Children Hundreds of Little Hearts Gladdened By Treat of "Goodies" Appropriate Program Rendered. Hundreds of smiling faces, glad hearts and "kiddies" full of anticipation anticipa-tion were made happy and merry at the public Christmas entertainment and tree given at the Relief Society hall last Tuesday night. Never in the history of Gunnison has an entertainment enter-tainment been so successfully launched and managed and it is doubtful if more hearts were made happy than at'this gathering of the little ones. Every seat in the large hall was filled and standing room was at a premium and it is conservatively estimated es-timated that fullv 500 were present and mostly children. All through the long program the "youngsters" waited patiently for old "Santa" and when his arrival ""was announced hearty cheers from three hundred or move lusty voices gave the "old fellow" fel-low" a warm welcome. A program of music, addresses and recitations held the attention of the vast assemblage for more than an hour. Opening - with a Christmas carol song by the audience, the spirit of Christmas was deeply impressed ol all. Therron Pickett offered invocation in-vocation and this was followed by a song. "Far, Far Away on Judea's Plains." John Larson gave an in- ; teresting delivery of the "Christ Child Story." Misses Edna Nielsen and Lois Myrup were warmly receiv- 1 ed in their rendition of a duet, as was Ruby Christensen in her delivery of an appropriate recitation. A band of boys from the Primary grade made a "hit" in the chorus they gave. .Miss Sylvia Williardson sang a solo, "Teach Me How to Pray," and was roundly applauded. Miss Alice Pierce followed with a beautiful recitation reci-tation well rendered. Little Kimball Larson captured the hearts of the youngsters with his appropriate Christinas song and Little Julia. Mo-doe Mo-doe won the plaudits of the little tots in the rendition of "The Night- , Before Christmas." Fred F.ieldsted ry closed the program with a solo, after which A. E. Park pronounced the benediction. Just prior to the dismissal it was announced that Santa Clans would give every child present a bag of candy and nuts. In marching form and to the strains of sweet music ev-ery ev-ery little one present paraded before Santa Claus and was presented with the long sought for gift. |
