Show NEW LAW HAS TELLING EFFECT Under the most pleasing circumstances circum-stances the High school of Gunnison was opened to the 1919-20 session last Monday. The enrollment thus far is very encouraging, the registration regis-tration showing twice as many as last year for the first two days. Notwithstanding Not-withstanding the fact that more room has been provided throughout the school building, overcrowding is already al-ready in evidence and it is thought that by the time all eligibles in the district have been enrolled, there .will be a lack of room. Eighty-five students have been enrolled in the 9th grade and above, and 4 S in the eighth grade. "The coming fession promises to be a very successful one," said Conrad Con-rad Frischknecht, principal of the high school. "The new law recently passed by the state legislature has had its effect in bringing out many that would not have been in attendance. attend-ance. The result will be fully appreciated appre-ciated and the boys who will gain more knowledge at school than on the street or at work, will be glad they had the chance." Preparatory to an aggressive year the students are having a clean-up day today. The boy students w'ill go after the rubbish and weeds about the building, while the girls will devote de-vote their time to arranging and making things shine within the building. At the completion of the work the students and faculty will hold a get-acquainted party, watermelons water-melons serving as refreshments and dancing for a diversion. |
