Show MUCH ENTHUSIASM I AT BASEBALL RALLY A crowd of about 600 pooplo gathered gather-ed on Main street to attend tho base tall rally. Tho colobratlon started with Boloctlona from tho band In n-ont of tho Utah Power & Light ofneo. About 8 o'clock a monster automobile parado was staged up and down Main street whllo tho horns tooted and tho band played. After tho parade, tho crowd gathered around an improvised plntform which was decorated with flags and bunting, -which stood In front of Itoblnson Grocery. II. s. Kershaw, Ker-shaw, secretary of tho Commercial club, acted as master of ceremonies. Tho program opened with a violin solo by Florence Prlday, accompanied by Mary Wild, which' was followed by u mandolin trio by Luther Glddlngs, Hort Storrs and Karl Dennett, both of which recolvcvd tho hearty ap-plauso ap-plauso of tho audience. John Hunter, tho local member of tho board of directors of the Central Utah Leaguo, then outlined tho plan3 nnd policies of tlio baseball organization organi-zation this year und nt the closo of his talk presented to the Uascball Club tho trophy, which is n sliver cup, on top of which is three mlnaturo baseball bats upholding a silver baseball, base-ball, which was awarded to them for winning the champlonohlp last season. Coach "Happy" Holmstcad, captain of tho team, received tho cup, nnd inndo n speech of acceptance, outlining the good the townspeople dcrlvo from having hav-ing a live baseball team. Ho then In turn turned' th'o cup ovovr to Thos. Coddington, president ot tho Commercial Commer-cial club, stating that It was the desire de-sire of tho baseball team that tho cup should 1h put on display In tho Commercial club rooms. Mr. Coddington Codding-ton accepted tliojuipand expressed tho hope that by the end of tho coming com-ing season, th'cro would bo a pair ot them. , Following the speeches was a clcv-or clcv-or little- vaudeville nct.of song sketches sketch-es by Clnrcnco Grant and Detta Miller, Mill-er, accompanied by Florenco Prlday and Mary Wild, Tihlch brought forth much upplauno fro in tho audience. After tho songs, speeches woro mado by "Dill" Darratt, former secretary of tho Central Utah Lcaguo; Mayor Wal-kor Wal-kor and D. S. Korsh'aw. Tho cloning number wns a selection from tho band. Much enthusiasm Is being shown nnd with tho good beginning wo already al-ready havo, thoro should bo nothing to stop American Fcrlc from carrying carry-ing off tho honors again this season. A stock company has been formed and the people of tho town will bo called upon to purchnso the stock. FJtteou men will be allowed on each team In tho loaguo this year.
