Show LOCAL RED CROSS Everybody is doing ltl Doing what? ' Helping the Red Cross. They are glad to do It, for they know that somebody's some-body's boy will be made more comfortable com-fortable Dy the work of the Red Cross throughout the nation. And so they are helping in their own little corner, here. They are not waiting until the dart enters their own hearts and their own boys lie wounded, but they are helping nowgiving what they can, rejoicing that they have something some-thing to give. HEN FRUIT A HELP As a result of the egg donation in charge of the Relief society the local chapter received this week $24 35. It has been decided to colrect eggs for the Red Cross work each Monday for one month. BELGIAN RELIEF DRIVE Used clothing is being received this week at the basement of the bank building, for the relief of Belgian Bel-gian sufferers. The clothes or shoes need not be in perfect repair just be sure they are worth 'mending. Send in your old quilts and worn blankets that can be spared. Picture yourself with your home gone and nothing but the friendly stars to cViver you, and think! GET YOUR SOLDIERS' ALLOWANCE Attention is called to the allowance for families of soldiers, or dependent mothers. If you are entitled to such and have not received it, or if you are in doubt about the matter, consult Attorney A. E. Park, who Is chairman chair-man of the home service committee. The Red Cross is anxious to help the families of enlisted men in any way possible. WOMEN'S MISSIONARY SOCIETY The Women's Missionary society of the Presbyterian chapel held a work meeting at the chapel Tuesday afternoon, after-noon, with ten members iu attendance. attend-ance. The object of these meetings is to earn money for Bed Cross purposes, the work being done for others at a reasonable price. Though this organ-1 ization, with a present membership of sixteen, has been established only since last October it has been ve y helpful in local Red Cross work First was the purchase of ten dollars and fifty cents wortli of yarn, which was 1 returned to the local chapter In fin-(ished fin-(ished articles. Counting these pieces, through this organization have been knitted in all: 13 scarfs 4 helmets 9 sweaters 8 pairs wristlets 52 pairs socks. So far, Miss Curtis is ahead of the other members in knitting, her total being 8 pairs of wristlets and 30 pairs of socks. Miss McMonigal is a close second. As a further lesult of these work meetings the Red Cross received receiv-ed a contribution of ten dollars this week. |
