Show RATION FOR HOLSTEIN COWS In Addition to Hay and Silage Each Animal Should Have Certain Amount of Grain. Feed the cows all the clover hay and silage they will clean up well without waste. Holstein cows will, on the average, eat daily from 10 to 12 pounds of clover hay and 30 to 40 pounds of corn silage. In addition feed each cow one pound daily of the immmmMmmm : - C , v 1 i Fine Young Holstein. following grain mixture for each 4 to 4Va pounds of milk she yields : . Oats, OOtpounds ; barley, 13 pounds ; corn, 15 pounds ; and oil meal, 20 pounds. If the barley and corn cannot be obtained conveniently a grain mixture consisting of 70 pounds oats and 30 pounds oil meal may be used and fed at the rate of one pound daily for each 4 to 4V3 pounds of milk each cow produces. |
