Mayor Sureit Anderson Ander-son and ex Bishop Andrew C. l'jeld-sted, l'jeld-sted, all eulogizing the deceased for his genial disposition and his great desire of taking a part in the conflict for justice and liberty, In which he gave his life. The corpse was borne lo the cemetery by the loving hands of his school chums, followed by a' military corps led by Charles E Kmbley, Km-bley, where a salute very ell'ectlve and Impressive was given. We are pleased to announce that no cases of "Flu" exist at present in Centerlield. Word was received today by Mrs. J. II. Hoylance that her son, Vernon, now in the hospital at Camp Kearny, Is Improving nicely, after a successful operation on the 10th Inst for removal remov-al of collected pus. It w ill be remembered remem-bered that some time ago his parents were summoned there to his sick bed. Fortunately he survived and was doing do-ing nicely from his attack of lnlluen.a and his mother returned home. But the father remained. A turn for the worse set In and again threatened Vernon's life, but now thero is good hope of his reeovery'und that soon he w ill accompany his father home. We are happy to say that he recovered, and on the 4th inst. obtained a furlough fur-lough of thirty days, when Mr. and Mrs. Jensen visited at Los Angeles and other coast tow ns. Mrs. Jensen returned home last Friday, leaving in California her husband, w ho hoped to get his dual release. He, however just coul In't wait, and surprised his folks by arriving here Monday ol this week, lie must report again at Camp Kearny by January 3.
