An experiment conducted at the Kanras experiment station shows that silage reduces the cost ol producing butterfat from 30 cents to 21 cents. The herds In this caHe were of Bufll-uient Bufll-uient Blze to give reliable data and eliminate the difference that might occur oc-cur between two cows. The lot which were fed Bilage gave 3even pounds more milk In the Bummer Bum-mer and 'J5.5 more in winter per month than the herd which were fed dry feed. The butterfat was alBo increased in-creased by .40 in Bummer and 4.0 In winter. The difference In the cost of feed was even greater. The sllage-fed cows saved 60 cent per month in the cost of feed. |
