Xew York Although Colonel Roosevelt, Roose-velt, as special ambassador to King Edward's funeral, bad good technical right to re-enter the United States without examination of his baggage by customs inspectors, he insisted that he comes as a mere citizen aud pay full duties. His request was granted, and members of his party filed eight declarations while Colonel Roosevelt prepared a typewritten letter, let-ter, describing what he had purchased pur-chased abroad. In all there were sev- fc-nty pieces of baggage, but the duty all fold was not more than $300. |
