The La Plata case, referred to in the lust issue of The -Bugler, has been decided in favor of. the mine owners, the Commissioners of the General Land Office in Washington thus; sustaining, the Land Office Receiver in Salt Lake City. The decision is . to the effect .that a large parfc'of the La Plata territory is mineral in character and therefore mineral applicants- are entitled to make legal entry of claims. The C. P. Ry. Co. contested this right. They may yet carry the case to the Supreme Court. But the indications indica-tions are that the miners will come out first best, when the town will be placed on its lefts' once more. It is surprising that so few people owning property in the region are assisting to defray expenses of this test case; but such is a fact. Most of the wherewith to fight the case is being furnished by Messrs. Rich, Boothe and others of Brigham City. |
