Show One by one causes of invidious comparison com-parison of American with foreign conditions con-ditions are passing away. The changes have been rung on the superior management man-agement of railroads abroad. Recently Recent-ly the statement of a British expert went to show that the difference, if any existed, at least so far as England Eng-land was concerned, was in favor of American management. It has also been asserted that there is recklessness reckless-ness in the matter of guarding against accident here, and the fatal occurrences occur-rences on American" roads were cited in proof. Yet here within a few days of each other the Pennsylvania and the Burlington companies have report-en report-en that not a passenger has lost his life on those lines , within a year. No European road can make a better showing, and the reports should put an end to a great deal of caviling. |
