Show PARDON CAME TOO LATE. Banker Walsh Dies Nine Days After Being Released From Prison. Chicago. John R. Walsh, convicted convict-ed former president of the Chicago National bank, died at his home here Monday. He lived only nine days to enjoy the liberty of his parole from the federal penitentiary at Leavenworth, Leaven-worth, Kan., gained by the continuous continu-ous efforts of his family and "friends since his incarceration of one year, eight months and twenty-six days. Death was caused by myocarditis, an inflammation of the muscles of the heart. The fCTmer banker was seventy-four seventy-four years old. Members of his family attributed the immediate cause of his death to his imprisonment. Walsh was convicted of misappropriation misappro-priation of funds of the bank for the use of his other properties, including the Bedford quarries, the Southern Indiana railway and the Chicago Chronicle. Walsh was born in County Cork, Ireland, and came here more than sixty years ago, beginning life here as a newsboy. |
