Show not likely that one will be provider for some time to come, '- -Visiting relatives and friends here during the holidays is Rudolph, W Tollestrup of Raymond, Canada. Mr, Tollestrup removed to his present location lo-cation when a boy of seventeen, some twelve years ago, and is now prospering prosper-ing well in the Dominion. He has enjoyed Ills coming to see the old hi.rmestead and renew acquaintances in Gunnison. --Mrs. Agnes Palmer left this morning, morn-ing, to take new residence at Sugar City, Idaho. Mrs. Palmer has acted for a number uf years in the capacity of postmistress at Fayette, and on Monday evening the citizens there tendered her a farewell party in the amusement hall. A nice program, a luncheon, and dancing comprised the evening's enjouncnt, arranged as a thorough surprise to the honored guest. At their home Monday evening Mr. and M rs. Charles P. Peterson enter-taind enter-taind a number of relatives, featuring progressive sixty-three in which Mrs. Millie Christenson and Paules Peterson Peter-son won tirst prizes, w hile falling to the lot of J. S. Peterson and Mrs. C. I. Christenson was the consolation awards. After the game the hostess served sandwiches and salad, and cake and hot chocolate, when music and singing featured. Present were: From Manti, Judge and Mrs. A. II. Christenson, Chris-tenson, Mrs. Elsie K. Christenson and daughter Elvena; from Salt Lake, Mr. and Mrs. C. Christenron: of this city, Mayor and Mrs. Joseph Christenson, Mr. and Mrs. L. 1). Christsenson, Mrs, Alma Bartholomew, Mr. and Mrs. J. S. Peterson, Mr. and Mrs. Llartin Peterson, Pe-terson, Mr. and Mrs. Ole Peterson, P. M. Peterson, Paules Peterson; and Ben Peterson. Mr. and Mrs. Albert Swain entertained enter-tained a few of their old friends at their home Sunday evening, in honor of George Swindle, of Monroe, who has been visiting friends in Gunnison the past two weeks. A very pleasant time was had in talking of olden days, when Gunnison and Monroe were first settled. All the guests had taken an active part in helping to settle the two towns, residing here during the time of the Black Hawk Indian war, At eleven o'clock a dainty luncheon was served by Mrs. C. II. Childs and Miss Susan . Swain. Those present besides the honored guest were Mr. and Mrs. W.1I. Gribble, Mr. and Mrs. William Bardsley, Mr. and Mrs. L. II. Childs, J. P. Fjeldsted, Mr. and Mrs. C. II. Childs, Lovell Childs, Miss Susan Swain; add the host and hostess LOCAL ECHOES. Elmer E. Kcarns, local writer for the Beneficial Life, is visiting in Utah and Salt Lake counties. J. AV. Edwards and family have removed re-moved to Salina, where Mr. Edwards has purchased a new home. Mrs. O. W. Christenson, formerly Annie Fredrikson of this city, has returned re-turned to Salt Lake having enjoyed a pleasant holiday visiting her parents here, Program for conjoint meeting of the Mutuals will be a lecture by O. I, Rasmusson, violin solo by Lexie Edwards, Ed-wards, .song by Ila Rasmusson, music by Ella Jensen, song . by Elsie K. Bartholomew, recitation by Ella Carter, and current events by C. E. Ferre. Of familiarity to Gunnison people were visiting in this city this week I Judge and Mrs. A, II. Christenson of Manti, Mr. and Mrs. C. 1. Christenson and Mrs. Samuel Edwards of Salt Lake. The old stage has been removed and a new hardwood floor laid over the en tire length of the room at the R. S, hall during the week, a force of hands doing the work chiefly on donation under direction of Erick Rosenval). Besides for the regular ward purposes it is intended to use the place for dan ces, and is thus remodeled and is provided pro-vided in view of there not being a. suitable dance hall since the opera j house burned last- August and it is |
