Show LOCAL ECHOES, Already decorations are in evidence for the 4th of July celebration. Centerfield is preparing to hold a big celebration on the Fourth. Mr. and Mrs. E. L Swalberg visited relatives in Mt. Pleasant during the stake conference held there Saturday and Sunday last. Workmen commenced this morning morn-ing on the reconstruction of the Gunnison Gun-nison Co-op store- building, which was destroyed by frire last September. Fairview and Gunnison ball teams cross bats this Friday afternoon at the Gunnison city park. This is the season's initial game, locally. Walter Christensen is succeeding well as proprietor of the Inland Grocery Gro-cery company recently opened up at Centerfield. Mrs. Ole Larson entertained a number num-ber of elderly Swedish people at her home Wednesday afternoon in commemoration com-memoration of the Swedish Midsummer Midsum-mer event. All present enjoyed themselves them-selves heartily. Mr. and Mrs., Matts Anderson of Sterling were among the guests of Mrs. Larson. All furniture fori, the Utah state building a,t San Diggo, wijl be made by the pupils of the state's manual training schools. Contests have been instituted in the schools and the prize specimens will furnish the different halls of the building. At the end of 1915 they will be sent back to the schools that supplied them, as trophies. Ernest Halverson, who graduated in music a year ago at the B. Y. university, uni-versity, Provo, is hpme again after having spent the season in a f urthur course of music and in collegiate studies. Mr. Halverson will be with us during the summer and conduct a class in music. He will also prove an enviable asset to the local ball team during his stay. Hr. Halverson is to leave the latter part of September for.-Emery for.-Emery county, where he is engaged to take charge of the musK department depart-ment in the Emery Stake aeademy, at Castle Dal. The Primary association officers of Gunnison ward have been busy during the week, arranging the bazaar which takes place In the Relief hall this Friday afternoon and evening. The. little folks have some very creditabls, things.on exhibition of their o,wn workmanship, which the pu.ilk should go and see. The place is r.a(.' attractive with flowers and booms, and a nice program will be rendered, in course of the evening. |
