Show GUNNISON CITY ELECTION. Citizens' Party Ticket Carried Car-ried Almost Unanimous. With no other ticket in the field the Citizens party candidates were given a heavier poll at Tuesday's election in Gunnison than any heretofore east for a successful municipal tioket here even when a close contest was on as an impetus for voters to turn out. The party had vehicles in service, just the same as if there, were an opposition, op-position, and used them to bring in voters without discriminating as tohow they would give their franchise. It was all done good-naturedly, and the result told what the people wanted and will get the City's advancement. advance-ment. A little scratching was done in sincerity sin-cerity and a couple of burlesaues thrown, Exoept in the latter case the vote cast is here shown : For Mayor John M. Knighton 136 William Metcalf 9 For Recorder Joseph Cbristenspn .... 141 For Treasurer Nephi Gledhill . . 144 Councilman (long term) Marinus Beauregard . . 140 N. C. Myrup 7 Councilmen (short term) A. H. Kearns 143 E, L, Swalberg 144 H. M. Childs 142 W. H. Gribble.. 144 Erick Rosenyall 4 C. E. Ferre 4 N. C, Myrup 2 Justice of tba Peace James P. Fieldated. . . . 139 A. Swain 7 The total poll was 161, nearly oue hundred orer that of two years ago. John M. Knighton, then, is to be tho next mayor of Gunnison city. He was elected towu president four years ago but very shortly after taking tak-ing the office gave over the helm to the guidnnoe of another. The Gszetto it that time pointed out to Mr. Knighton Knigh-ton the possibility of his wearing a bran-new City toggery and had two years in which .to measure up. His leaving threw over the honor to Anthony Metoalf, who has deservedly deserv-edly and well held the first mayorship mayor-ship of Gunnison city and on January Janu-ary 4 next will resign it to Mayor-eleot Knighton second-hand. The ticket, from top to bottom, is admittedly a good one. |
