Show WILLARD. Fruit Prospects North of Willard An AccidentA Pedagogue Comes Over. The hot wind last Monday eve was a scorcher. Our local wheelmen are occasionally occasion-ally seen flying through the streets. R. E. Davis has begun work on his residence. Hon. W'm. Lowe and wife, E. P. Cordon, Rachel Rrandowand J. X. Barker-went to Salt Lake City to attend the funeral of G. J. Mears. who suicided on the 8th hist. D. C. Harding and wife, who have been absent on a mission for three years to the Sand wich Islands, returned home on the 1st inat. They brought home two native islanders; they are little beauties. B. Barker's prospects for a fruit crop this year are excellent. He has erected a large wind-mill on his place, with which he expects 10 water a large part of his orchard. Our celebration on the Fourth was a grand success. An excellent program was ably executed in the morning. The oration by W. K. Cole was especially good; tho other exercises were creditably rendered. Last week, Chas. Harding was hauling hay from his farm west of Bonneyville. While crossing the S. P. R. Last Sunday eve, Prof. Brinihnll of Provo, delivered an excellent lecture to a large and appreciative audience. The subject, ''Habit, Character and Destiny," was treated treat-ed in the speaker's own original and masterly manner and was listened to with rapt attention. On Monday evening, Peter Elliot of S. L. City, who is soliciting subscribers sub-scribers for Zion's Home Monthly, published by H. W. Nasbitt, delivered de-livered a lecture on "Happy Homes." ; One of our young pedagogues, O. j J. Call, becoming tired of single ; blessedness, concluded to change! h's estate, so at Salt Lake City, the nuptials were tied. The bride is Miss "Ryan, a young lady who assisted him in his school last year. We wish the young couple a prosperous journey through life, and hope that their cup of happiness happi-ness may be full to oversowing. Willard, July 12, '93. |
