Show HAPPENINGS AND WHEREABOUTS The Ladies' Literary club is to give a big carnival at the Richards Street Auditorium on November 2 and 3, to be called "The City of Beautiful Nonsense." On the afternoon of November No-vember 2nd there will be a card party and in the evening there will be -"vaudeville entertainment. At noon of the 3rd there will bo a cabaret luncheon lunch-eon followed by a grand ball in the evening. A calendar of booths will be in charge of the different dif-ferent members of the club. The executive committee com-mittee is composed of Mrs. S. K. Woodruff, chair- man; Mrs. S. H. Knickerbocker, Mrs. J. L. Fran-ken, Fran-ken, Mrs. W. H. Bintz, Mrs. F. L. Parker, Mrs. C. C. Bailey, Mrs. Wesley King, Mrs J. A. Reeves, and Mrs. F. L. Oswald. Judge and Mrs. Thomas L. Mitchell entertained enter-tained at a beautifully appointed dinner at their home on Twelfth East on Tuesday evening, in honor of Judge and Mrs. H. D. Rummel, of Charleston, West Virginia, William Barret Ridgely and Charles S. Ilerzig.of New York. Covers Cov-ers were laid for ten. Lieutenant and Mrs. Ira K. Humphrey are rejoicing re-joicing over the arrival of a little daughter at their homo in Ft. Douglas. Mrs. Claude Freed entertained at a luncheon in honor of Mrs. Kenneth C. Kerr, of Seattle, on Wednesday. vMrs. H. G. McMillan entertained the Ladies' Aid Society of the First Presbyterian church on Wednesday. A reception was given last evening at the home of Bishop Paul Jones. The wedding of Miss Leda W7allace and Sterling Ster-ling Snow took place at the home of Mr. and Mrs. H. J. Wallace, on East First South street, on Tuesday evening. Mr. and Mrs. John V. Lyle are now at home at the Bransford apartments. Miss Sybil Walker and Witcher and Robert Walker have gone east for the winter. Miss Walker will continue her work at the Boston Tech and tho boys will enter Andover. Mrs. Lewis W. Sowles, Miss Florence Halloran and W. J. Halloran will arrive home Sunday from Ocean Park. Mrs. Robert Butterfield entertained at a luncheon lunch-eon at her home on Thursday for Mrs. Percy F. Morgan, of Montclaire, N. J., who is the guest of Mrs. Butterfiold's mother, Mrs. F. L. Oswald. Miss Norinne Thompson was the honored guest at a luncheon given on Thursday by Mrs. Ferdinand J. Fabian and Mrs. John Elliot Clark. Miss Mary Smedley, who recently arrived here for a visit, was the guest of honor at an informal infor-mal tea given by Mrs. George Lawrence at her home on Friday. Mrs. William Reid and Mrs. Lester Freed enter, en-ter, Mrs. Kenneth C. Kerr, of Seattle. Mr. and Mrs. H. N. Mayor entertained the members of tho Supper club at their home on Thursday. Mrs. Lynn H. Thompson gave a beautiful luncheon at her home on Tuesday for Miss Norinne No-rinne Thompson. Covers were laid for twelve. Mrs. Frederick Oswald entertained at the Hotel Ho-tel Utah at a luncheon on Tuesday in honor of her guest Mrs. Percy F. Morgan. . Mr. and Mrs. William McCune, of Omaha, are the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Will Brown. Mrs. Frederick Palmer will go to El Paso to joint Lieutenant Palmer during the coming week. Mrs. Charles W. Carter entertained at a luncheon lunch-eon at the Country club on Wednesday. |
