WILLE of Maxim's is giving a musical treat at his popular cafe that is by far ahead of any similar entertainment entertain-ment ever attempted In Salt Lake. The Delmonico's of the west is always looking for the best. With this in view, Mr. Wille signed a contract witfc Loonore Gordon Harrison, a soprano of remarkable ability, who is now rendering ren-dering special programs of classical and popular songs. She has a volco of wonderful range, power and sweetness sweet-ness and became popular at her first appearance here. Maxim's patrons also have the pleasure of hearing two other soloists and one of the best orchestras or-chestras ever organized. (Advertisement.) Musicians THE big musical event of the week was the appearance of the United States Marine band at the Tabernacle where two immense audiences were entertained with a program varied with popular and classical selections. The appearance of the band is a musical event of no mean importance, inasmuch as a tour of this great organization is very rare. Lieut. WJilliam H. Santelmann, conducted con-ducted and the ensemble and solo work were encored enthusiastically. Salt Lake's musical colony will miss Prof. J. J. McClellan this winter. Next week he leaves for Europe to add to his musical education. Miss Loa Roberts, ti talented young Utah girl, has been added to the faculty of the Salt Lake Conservatory of Music to teach dramatic art. Miss Roberts studied under Sargent and also under Mrs. Bertha Baker. She is a daughter of B. H. Roberts. The Philharmonic orchestra, under the direction of Anton Pedersen, Is making satisfactory progress in its work in music of -the better type. It may be some monthB before a concert con-cert will be -given, as the directors desire de-sire to set a high standard at the Initial performance. Salt Lake local No. 104 of the American Ameri-can Federation of Musicians, at its annual meeting elected the following officers: President, Thomas Nichols; vice president, Alfred Press; secretary, Lorenzo Sharp; treasurer, David Bamberger; Bam-berger; directors, Ralph Baker, H. W. Fielding, D. C. Done, Frank Westoevr, Morris Stephenson. M!rs. Emma Ramsey Morris will shortly return from her successful California tour. She will probably be heard here in recital during the winter. win-ter. Miss Jeanette Williamson, organist of the Westminster Pre3bytorian church, has returned from a four weeks' absence in Europe, most of the time being spent in England and Scotland.
