Show H " WHEN DREAMS COME TRUE" Hi M The Bartholomae-Hein comedy, ''When Dreams M Come True," with Joseph Santley, Edward Hume. M Unthryn Rowe Palmer, Mignon McGibeny, Saranoff m and a host of clever people in less important M parts, proved to be just the thing theatregoers M have been waiting for all season. Filled with M good music, clever lines, excellent dancing and M the sparkle that goes with the color and life of H every musical comedy, it was perfectly produced. H This comedy of youth has a thread of a plot Bl which begins on the deck of a steamer bound for H Now York, when Kean Hedges sees the vision of M ' his dream girl Beth, and the romance is carried m through the succeeding acts to the point where H they begin to be happy ever after. Mr. Suntley H received a royal welcome upon his first appear- D ance as a star in his old home town, and made H his ilrst big hit in his song, "When Dreams Come H True," accompanied by the wonderful Saranoff. H He is clean-cut and young and clever, of appeal- Hj ing personality and his dancing is the acme o HI' perfection. Likewise, too, the production is clean Hj and sweet and buoyant in Its pretty music and H happy lines and nothing more delightful has been Hj seen at the theatre for months. H It is so seldom that one encounters a real m comedian in a cast of late, that Edward Hume H1 with his wit and natural ability, fairly sclntll- Hj lated and Cathryn Rowe Palmer, the big laughing H hit of the production, is a marvel. Upon her first appearance there was a suspicion of a groun down in tront in expectation of another exaggerated exag-gerated servant part, but the eloud was quickly dispelled and every moment that she was on the stage was a scream. The beauty of Saranoff s violin playing and the dainty sweetness of MIsb McGibeny were matters of mark, and the chorus in general support was such as to make the tout ensemble particularly pleasing even to those whom George Ado describes as "the coffin trimmers," trim-mers," who sometimes write pieces for newspapers. newspa-pers. There will be no objections if Mr. Santley and his splendid company could be booked for a quick return to Zion. |
