Show Music and Musicians EVERYTHING is progressing rapidly rapid-ly in connection with the monster mon-ster testimonial to be tendered Organist John J. McClellan at the Tabornaclo Saturday, October 5. All necessary details have been carefully worked out by the five committees in charge and the largest crowd in the history of Tabernacle concerts expected. ex-pected. Letters from prominent musicians mu-sicians throughout the state, tendering tender-ing their services, are coming in almost al-most daily, making the selection of the program a very complicated task. It is probable that the following artists ar-tists will appear: Willard Weihe, Hugh W. Dougall, Mrs. Sybolla Bas-sett, Bas-sett, Mrs. Agatha Berkhoel Siegel, Mrs. Hazel Taylor Peery, Miss Mabel Clarke, Spencer Clawson, Jr., Willard Andelln, Alfred Best, John T. Hand, Fred C. Graham, Mrs. W. G. Tuttle and Charles Shepherd. Great interest in the ticket-selling contest has already al-ready been aroused. M. J. Brines, the tenor and Instructor, Instruc-tor, has left for Chicago to pursue his medical studies at Rush Medical college. Mr. Brines expects to be away four years. The Utah Conservatory of Music has established headquarters for the entire northern, portion of the state at Ogden and gave an Introductory concert in the Ogden Tabernacle last evening. Mrs. Emma RamBay Morris, who was the official soloist of the National Nation-al G. A. R. encampment in Los An- geles,' received a veritable ovation on her appearance there in Shrine auditorium. audi-torium. The vast audience arose en masse and gave the local artist three loud cheers and a "tiger" on her first appearance. This was followed by a burst of applause and the playing of the Salute of Honor by the combined com-bined drum corps and bands in attendance. at-tendance. Miss Hazel Barnes, who has been spending the summer in California, has returned home much benefitted by the change. Miss BarneB made an enviable record for herself in Paris, but has been indisposed 'most of the time since her return. She may return re-turn to the coast to spend the winter. Miss Emma Lucy Gates is now vis-iting vis-iting in Logan and is much improved in health. Miss Gates expects to fill contracts for concert appearances in Scotland, Germany, Austria, and Switzerland during February and March, having received contracts for ten appearances in one mail during the past Week. CANNON RECITAL. Much interest is manifested in the pupils recital to be given by the pupils pup-ils of Tracy Y. Cannon next Friday evening, the 27th, in the Consolidated Music Hall. Miss Eva Crawrord, the talented violinite, will play two new pieces of Wm. Cannon's for the violin. Miss Alice Martin who is already known as one of Salt Lake's most talented pianists will appear In a group of Chopin pieces.
