Show "MUTT AND JEFF." Bud Fisher and those who helpe'd him stage "Mutt and Jeff" have given to patrons of musical shows almost as much of a treat in a theatrical way as he has provided perusers of the humorus features of newspapers in his Mutt and Jeff cartoons. car-toons. The show was something of a surprise and certainly an innovation locally for those who have witnessed the various collections of tragic comedians com-edians and superannuated show girls who have cluttered up the local stage in most of the mus ical plays seen in Salt Lake the past few months. With just enough story to keep things moving and give the fun and music a little continuity, Fisher, and his collaborators, humanized "Mutt and Jeff" most entertainingly. The make-ups of the two men impersonating the cartoon subjects were perfect. per-fect. Their gestures and "business" were true to Fisher's originals, and supporting the two was a company of men and women with excellent voices and whose dancing was above the average. |
