Show EMPRESS. The Empress scores this week with an act that is on a par with pretty nearly any vaudeville vaude-ville stunt the town has had the past two seasons, either at Empress prices or the other kind. The Metzetti troupe, eight in number, offer a collection of thrills and throbs that has pretty nearly carried everything before it since the opening open-ing performances. Sylvester Metzetti, a youngster young-ster who looks as though he might be tWenty-three tWenty-three or twenty-four years old, is the feature of the act. He performs the much-discussed triple somersault starting from a standing position on the shoulders of one of his brothers, and using only his own strength to put himself in the air high enough to turn three somersaults before alighting on the shoulders of the second brother. James Grady, Ben Peer, and Madeline Clark are a feature of the program in a comedy dramatic sketch entitled "The Toll Bridge." Mr. Grady's characterization of Job Williams, is an admirable bit of acting, and Miss Clark's Cherrie is excellent. excel-lent. Marin and Lona open the bill in a juggling and equilibristic turn that introduces several novelties new to the local variety stage, and they are followed by Marie Levarre, whose clever mannerisms and pretty gowns help along a mediocre voice quite effectively. Mile. Cecile and company are averagely good, and Fred Eck-hoff Eck-hoff in his facial comedy work, has scored the laughing hit of the bill. He and Miss Gordon play a number of instruments successfully. |
