Show I Socially Inclined I II All the way from Chicago this well known Salt Lake girl was the belle of the train. The. Log Angeles Limited held more than its usual Quota of interesting passengers and among the number were an army man, another who bore all the evidences evi-dences of being well known to Now York club ! life, etill another who belongs to that interesting class of special writers and who was on his way to the Orient. Lastly there was a gaudily dressed : ribbon salesman from Chicago who was every where a.t once on the brightly lighted train. The I ; Salt Lake girl did not know a soul on the train, , at least she did not recognize any acquaintances, ; and, to pass dull time away through the stretches .of country in Nebraska and Wyoming, she ac-; ac-; cepted the hourly attentions of the men, bestowed r with that air of good fellowship that permeates the first class American train of the day. Through Iowa, the second day, the man of Mara was host at luncheon. Ho knew how to mix a salad dress-i dress-i ing and gave particular orders to the smiling J waiter as to the exact ingredients to bring. It I seemed to be a very successful salad as well as ' luncheon and the club man, the drummer, the j newspaper man and othere, also enjoyed it from I their vantage ground a few tables removed. It j emboldened the club man for by 4 o'clock that j , afternoon he was deep in a discussion on books I with the girl and how easy it was to suggest a 1 dinner at 0:30. The army man was routed and p 1 for the rest of the evening the Now Yorker hold ! sway although tho ribbon salesman nrade every i effort to get into the conversation while the crowd j loitered in tho observation end. Tho next day at I luncheon the special writer was the host and to keep the peaco, tho Chicago man was graoiously , allowed to show that ho was an adept at ordering ! a dinner. Imagine the chagrin of each of them I when they saw the fair girl warmly welcomed by her "Jack" at the dingy Salt Lake platform and later to see her whirled away in a red automobile. I That evening the four sat alone in the observa tion car and tho next day they were noticed lunching lunch-ing together at a table for four as the train whirled through the orange groves of Southern California. wl The Country Club was bright indeed on Satur-I Satur-I day last with an attendance far In excess of ordi- ! nary days.
