Mr. Leighton is thoroughly familiar fa-miliar with the famous role and his appearance in the part at the Grand next week will be without with-out doubt a repetition of his former triumps in the mle. Few playgoers there are who do not know die splendid, soul-stirring story of tlie "Prisoner of Zenda," as Anthony Hope's famous 1 novel- from which the play is written has been read and re-read from coast to coast countless times. The play is one that demands a most .elaborate staging, to say nothing of costumes. Mr. Leighton ha had the production in rehearsal for two weeks and witli the special scenery that has been constructed on the presentation of the piece next week local playgoers will bave the j opportunity of seeing an Eastern fctar in one of the productions that carried him to his pres ent position of prominence in' the theatrical r world. ' ' . Miss Emily Dodd will have the opportunity of her engagement with Mr. Leighton next week-in week-in the role of Princess Flavia. With her. accomplishments accom-plishments and beauty Miss Dodd should score a splendid success in the character. Lyster Chambers, the talented and popular leading man of Mr. Leighton's company, will play Black Michael and here is another characterization characteriza-tion of which much may be expected as Mr. Chambers- has scored well "ith Grand audiences in the past few weeks. Miss Elsie Scott will play Antoinette and Miss Jane Fernley, the pretty pret-ty girl who has become so popular at the Grand, will play Frau Teppicli. The engagement opens Sunday evening and matinee performances will be Wednesday and Thursday afternoons at 2:30 o'clock. The hit of the Lyric season was presented this week in the Gill, Barron' & company, which was as clever as that class of work gets to be on vaudeville boards. The balance . of the bill is well in keeping and has proven a record breaker for the popular priced show house.
