Show I! 11 I Utah and Idaho are closely linked in many 'it H ways; socially and in business and in common !'f H hopes and fears, i i It gS All reports agree that Idaho is enjoying ox- i J' ceeding prosperity. Her mines are holding tlioir ,K own and are enough to vitalize all the other ' $1 If branches of business in the state. In farming and f if J if trwlt raising she is advancing by leaps and !i Jj bounds, her grain is heavier than the standard 1 1 ; jjf weight; her fruit has a fame as wide as the Re- public. She has more superb agricultural land than New York or Pennsylvania, the average of her crops per acre exceeds those states two to one. When, perhaps five years hence, she will be able to utilize the water now running to waste, she will have more land under cultivation than all New ITngland has to-day. Her people are justly exultant over their present pres-ent prosperity and over the hopes justly cherished cher-ished for her future. And they are a great people. The climate they live in is perfect from a health standpoint, a climate cli-mate which enables them to work every day in the year out of doors, and which to men is what an oxygen blast is to molten iron which converts it into steel, so that they can work long hours, so that their brains are always kept strong, so that they cannot help but be a brave race and generous -hearts always attach to brave men. Wo congratulate our northern neighbor and wish for her continuous prosperity and all generous gen-erous Christmas greetings. |
