Show ONE HUNDRED AND ONE OYSTERS. Compiled by May E. Southworth. Paul Elder & Company, San Francisco and New York. There was once a picture painted representing represent-ing tho first discovery of tho oyster on the seashore sea-shore by man, but none ever followed showing tho joy and delight on his countenance when he dared open and eat it. But that was before the possibilities possi-bilities in this direction were disclosed by tho Paul Elder Press of Now York, in the attractive volume, 'One Hundred and One Ways of Serving Oysters," compiled by May E. Southworth, this being be-ing the most recent addition to the Epicurean thrills. Tho old saying of being as "dumb as an oyster' cannot apply to this dainty little brochure, for It speaks loudly and most eloquently of its homely self, arrayed in all sorts of fancy and gorgeous dress. There are one hundred and one, mostly new, and thoroughly appetizing ways of serving this succulent bivalve, each more palatable than the last. From title page to tho end of the Index In-dex tho appetite is lured on to absolute hunger, longing for a month with an "R" In It. |
