BACCHANALIAN. Now Spring has joined the phantom host, And summer gilds life's boulevards; The springtime bard has hushed again His cadences and old canards. He sings no more of sylvan glades, Made vocal by the tuneful throng, Nor prates of life's mysterious moods A loftier note leaps in his song. And grasping firm his radiant pen, The poet courts a fairer muse; And sings of sizzling seas of beer And other special brews of booze.
