Show I THE SCHOOL OPENING. The schools are open again; the streets are I gay with bright dresses and swinging satchels, I and they have the right of way. Around the school houses are swarms of little humanity and I the chatter is as though a wilderness of mocking I birds were holding a convention. There is no I finer sight; there is no sweeter music. There they are on the threshold, not axare in their lives, 9 not a thought in their minds but of hope and a I future filled with gladness. They do not realize how swiftly the years are hurrying them on, B what a little while it will be when those who are I facing the heat of the day now will be pushed B aside, and they will have to pick up the burdens fl and carry them, What a farce-comedy this life is anyway; how swift the acts, how soon the curtain cur-tain will be rung down and the whole play will be forgotten. |
