Show SHOULD HAVE CHANGE. The other night Judge Armstrong wanted a prisoner who was confined in the county jail. He was obliged to wait nearly two hours. That sup. plies a strong argument in favor of a change. If a good lot can be secured near the Joint Building Build-ing it certainly would be wise to buy it and sell the present jail and the lot on which it stands. We do not know much about city values, but it would seem as though the lot on Second South ought to bring enough to buy a lot near the Joint Building Build-ing and have money enough left to go far toward to-ward erecting a new prison. The saving would be very great in time, in the transportation of prisoners and in lighting and heating the new structure. |
