Show Joseph Greene of the "Babes in Toyland" company com-pany was connected a few years ago with a small company that was making a tour of towns in the middle west. One day they arrived in a village that was even smaller than usual, and he and the manager took a stroll through the main street. They dropped into the general store over which the hall or 'opry-house" was situated, and which was presided over by the local impresario. Getting into conversation with him, they asked the usual questions as the advance sale, etc. Finally, Greene said to him: "What was the last theatrical com- wm H ' pany that played your town?" The manager of the "opry-house" thought for a minute and then called out to a tow-headed youth in the back of . the store J "Bill, what was the last 'troupe' we had?"' The answer came back at once. "The Educated Edu-cated Pig, father." |
