That Section 222 of tho Revised Ordinances of Salt Lako City, of 1903, bo, and tho same hereby Is amended and re-enacted so as to road as follows: Section 222. Flro Department. Organization. Or-ganization. Tho Flro Department of Salt Lako City shall consist of the following fol-lowing officers and flromen: One chief of department: one assistant assist-ant chief of department, six captains; five lieutenants; five engineers; ono superintendent su-perintendent of flro alarms; one secretary, secre-tary, and forty-four men; Provided, that ono of said captains, and ono of said lieutenants, and eleven of said mon shall not bo appointed until Number Num-ber Fivo Engine House is completed and ready for occupancy. AN ORDINANCE. An ordinance declaring certain alleys al-leys nuisances, directing them to bo paved, guttered and curbed, Imposing a fine for failure, and for abatement of the same as nuisances. Bo it ordained by tho City Council of Salt Lako City, Utah: Section 1. That all private alloys botweon tho west side of West Temple street and tho east sldo of Stato streot, and tho north side of East South Temple Tem-ple streot and tho south sldo of Third South street, aro, and each of them hereby is declared to bo detrimental to tho health, peace and comfort of tho inhabitants of this city, and as such each of them Is hereby declared to bo a nuisance. Section 2. That all prlvato alleys within tho boundaries named in Section Sec-tion 1 of this ordinance shall, on or before Soptombcr 1, 190G, bo paved, guttered and curbed In such a manner and of such material as shall bo approved ap-proved by tho City Engineer of this city. Section 3. Any person, firm or corporation, cor-poration, owner or owners of a prlvato alloy or of prlvato alleys In tho district mentioned in Section 1 hereof who shall fall to comply with tho provisions of Section 2 of this ordinanco shall bo deemed guilty of a misdemeanor, and, upon conviction thereof, shall bo fined In any sum not exceeding two hundred ($200.00) dollars, or bo imprisoned In tho city jail not moro than sixty (GO) days, or bo punished by both such fine and Imprisonment, and a separate offense of-fense shall bo deemed to bo committed every ton days during which such person, per-son, firm or corporation shall fall to comply with tho provisions of said Section 2 of this ordinanco. Section 4. Nothing heroin contained shall bo construed to prevent tho City Council of this city from abating or ordering tho abating of any or tho nuisances dcclnred in Section 1 horeof. Section 5.
