An ordinance lovying a tax and for the assessment of property on both sides of R street, from South Temple street to Folirth street, in Sewer Dls-triot Dls-triot No. l'i for- the construction of a sower. Bo It ordained by tho City Council of Salt Lake City, Utah. Section 1. That tho City Council docs hereby levy tho tax and provide for the assessment of tho samo upon tho property hereinafter described in lots Nos. 2 and 3, block 4; 1 and 4, block 5: 1 and 4, block 12; 2 and 3, block 13; 2 and 3, block 20; 1 and 4, block 21; 1 and 4, block 28,. and .2 and 3,-block 29, plat "Or," Salt Lake City survey, abutting on both sides of R street, from South Temple street to Fourth street, in Sowor District No. 1, said property having a frontago of 2,040 feet along said street. This tax is lovied to defray the ox-penso ox-penso of constructing a vitrified pipe sewer eight inches in diameter upon said portion of said street opposite the property hereinafter described to be especially affected and benefited by said improvement, and it is hereby ad-ju'dged, ad-ju'dged, determined and established that tho samo will bo especially benefited bene-fited therobr to tho full amount of the tax hereby lovied, and said parcels of land are hereby assosscd at an equal md uniform rate in accordance with the linear foot frontage upon said portion por-tion of said street fronting upon and to- a depth of twenty-five (25) foet back therefrom, and the tax heroby lovied and to be assessed upon said parcels of land is one thousand eight hundred and forty-eight ($1,848.00) dojlars, or 70-100 (?.70) dollars per front or linear foot, which is the estimated es-timated total cost and estimated cost per - front foot of said sewer, and the treasurer is hereby authorized and directed di-rected to assess In accordance with tno provisions or tins ordinance ror tne purpose heroin mentioned, all of lots 2 and 3, block 4; all of lots 1 and 4, block 5; all of lots 1 and 4, block 12; nil of -lots 2 and 3, block-13; all of lots 2 and 3, block 20; all of lots 1 and 4, block 21; all of lots 1 and 4, block 28. and all of lots 2 and 3, block 29, plat "G," Salt Lako City survey, as tho samo arc shown upon tho official plats of said city to a depth of twenty-, flvo (25) feet back from said street, and to collect said tax.. Said tax shall become and bo delinquent in six equal installments, install-ments, as follows, to-wlt: One-sixth thereof shall become and be delinquent ono month after tho approval of this ordinance; ono-sixth thereof In ono year after such approval; one-sixth thereof in two years after such ap proval; one-sixth thrreof in three years after such approval, one-sixth thereof in four years after such approval, and one-sixth thereof in five years after such approval. Eaoh and every installment install-ment of said tax except tho first shall draw Interest at tho rate of six per cent per annum from date of levy until delinquent, de-linquent, and each and every Installment Install-ment of said tax shall bear Interest at tho rate of eight por cent per annum from and after its date of delinquency. That Section 355 of Chapter Chap-ter XXVI of the Revised Ordinances of Salt Lako City, bo and tho samo is heroby repealed and re-enacted so as to road as follows: Section 355. The Land and Water Commissioner shall havo power, subject sub-ject to tho approval of the City Council, Coun-cil, to appoint tho following named deputies and assistants: One Offloo Doputy, at a. salary Nino Hundred Dollars per annum. One Patrolman, with horse, for City Creok Canyon, at a salary of $2.50 por day, whose duty It shall be to keep tho canyon clear of. all rubbish and refuse, and to patrol tho same, each day to tho Divide, from the first day of March until tho first day of Decomtor of each year. One Patrolman, .with horse, for Parley's Par-ley's Canyon, at a salary of Nine Hundred Hun-dred Dollars per annum, whoso duty it shall bo to keep tho canyon .and creek free of all rubbish and dobrls, and whose duty It shall bo to live at tho station In Parley's Canyon from the first day of March until tho first day of December of each year. One Ranchman, with horse, to live in the canyon and look after tho ranches and bulldinir in Parley's Canyon and Mountain Dell, and to keep tho creek open during tho winter, In tho unner part of the canyon, at a salary of Nino Hundred Dollars per annum. Ono Foreman, and two men with horses, for Jordan jind Salt Lako Canal, at a salary of $2.50 per day each. Any additional labor that emergencies emergen-cies may require. Such salaries shall bo paid as are tho salaries of other City employees. Article 2. All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are heroby repealed to tho extent of such conflict. COMPENSATION. Tno Mayor shall, by and with tho advice ad-vice and consent of tho Council, appoint, ap-point, during tho term for which ho Is elected, a Board of Health, consisting of a Health Commissioner, who shall bo a graduate of a roputable medical college, and two other citizens. The Mayor shall bo ex-ofllclo chairman of tho Board. Tho compensation of each member of tho Board of Health (exclusive (ex-clusive of tho Mayor and tho Health Commissioner) Is heroby fixed at five ($5.00) dollars for oach mooting attended. at-tended. Tho Health Commissioner shall rocolvo as compensation. In full for all services rendered tho City, a salary ot twolvo hundred ($1,200.00) dollars por annum, payablo monthly as are tho sal--arlos of othor City ofilcors.
