Show fl The Coutt of Honor at the Seattle A. Y. P. Exposition fl In a make and break igniter the grounded elec- fl trodo is the rocking stem and finger. This stem fl is lubricated by what oil may chance to pass it fl from combustion , chambers. Usually this oil is fl sufficient for lubrication, and it may be so abund- fl ant as to interfere with the flow of the current. V It is not uncommon to see sparks jumping from fl this electrode to adjacent parts when the motor fl is running fast. In case misfiring is noted and the insulation of the lava brushing is known to be good, a light coil spring may be connected between be-tween the rocking stem and any adjacent part, such as one of the studs holding the igniter plate. This spring should not be stiff enough to interfere inter-fere with the make and break movement. Soft copper wire is the best material for it, an one end of the wire may be soldered to a coppei 'battery 'bat-tery terminal" held by tho stud nut After having been used continuously for live years by three different owners, a 24-horse power Pierce Arrow has been placed in commission as a general utility car by the Edison Manufacturing Manufactur-ing company of "West Orange, N. J. The car is one manufactured in 1904. The only change made in the car was the removal of the tonneau and the substitution of a platform on which boxes and other material may be carried. |
