Show B Saunterings H ' Dr. Hector Giiswold's penchant for colliding H with the courts has gotten a free start in his new H ' field of endeavor in New York. H While living here he was never averse to a H i suit or two with the smart society people who H went to him and whom the doctor always thought, H , after his very excellent work on them, should be H willing to pay a luxurious price for the privilege of having him fix their faces so that they could !open their mouths attractively. The doctor's ambition took him to New York, where, for some years, he has enjoyed a wonderful wonder-ful practice. One day last week, in the Court of Special Sessions, in that city, he was convicted of practicing dentistry without a license and y fined ?50, which he paid under protest, stating Hi that he would carry the case to the United States HI Supreme Court if the state courts did not reverse H the judgment. H He maintained that he was a fully equipped Hi dentist and chemist as well, stating that he Hf enme to New York from the West, but did not Hi register in that state. He contended that New Hi York was discriminating against the residents of Hf other states and making them register for prac- Hl tice here. Hr The complainant was Miss Belle Conrow. She H testified that in January, 1909, she went to Dr. H Griswold's office and had him treat her teeth. H She used to be an agent for the New York Dental H Society, and her visit was the result of a com- 9, plaint by one of Dr. Griswold's patients, who had H: been charged ?500 for a plate and who refused H t 1W.
