Show ORPHEUM. Eusapia Paladin, the Italian spirit medium, who has created such a sensation in New York, has a scar on her head from which after her mouth and nostrils are closed, a breeze of warm air emanates. Martin Beck of the Orplfeum has too much hair to allow of a close examination, but if he is the man responsible ior the statement that Edna Aug, is a headliner, the scar is there. Edna heads a bill that is a strong reminder of a piece of Swiss cheese with just enough real stuff in it to hold the holes together, but beside the A sketch which she follows, Miss Aug is scintillating, for Walter Lewis and his company who presented pre-sented 'A Baby Grand" might just as well have ltept it nobody else wanted it. Utterly devoid of a single bright line, it has no place on an Or-pheum Or-pheum program. Les Mysotis pirouquette a bit when the curtain cur-tain first rises. They are rather graceful dancers and apparently have been for several years. Henry Clivo and Mai Sturgiss Walker follow them with a burlesque on legerdemain that is not half bad, as both are very interesting. Ferrell Brothers and the Carmen Troupe work very hard f to make up for the rest of the performance, and j H what they do is very effective. The Ferrell Broth- I ers bicycle act is a real novelty, .interesting in every way, and the Carmen troupe of slack and tight wire artists is the cleverest collection of people that has been seen In a similar act at the house. The Big City Quartette is back again, just as v popular as every Orpheum quartette seems to be, though apparently there have been too few specialties of this kind this season as since the opening of the house in August there have only been five quartettes on the bills. The excellent Kinodrome pictures of scenes about Biskra have called forth much favorable comment during the week They are especially interesting in-teresting to those who have read the famous novel of Hitchens' "The Garden of Allah", as the scenes are laid in the vicinity of the places described in Hitchens' book. For the coming week Manager Sutton announces an-nounces Mary Norman as the headllner in "Some Types of Women." Also Ed. F. Reynard, the ventriloquist, ven-triloquist, in his original one-act comedy "A Morning in Hicksville", the famous Duffln-Red-cade Troup of Acrobats, Pllu, the canine mind-reader, mind-reader, Patrice and her company in "The Lobbyist", Lobby-ist", the Hopkins sisters in "Lunaland" and Chessino, the shadowgraph artist. |
