Show i j Mining JVfotes. President A. B. Lewis of the Majestic company, com-pany, arrived this week with a large party of officers and shareholders of that company, and after a dinner given at the Commercial club the whole party left for the mines on the evening train. Manager Farish and Assistant Secretary Hen-shaw Hen-shaw also accompanied the party, who will spend three or four days at the camp. At the annual meeting of the directors, which is called for May 5th, at Denver, the number of directors will be increased from five to seven. The list from which the selection will be made will contain twelve names, that vill represent all interests in the company, and Mr. Lewis has no doubt that from them a very strong board will be selected. After the annual meeting Mr. Lewis expects to spend some time between this city and the mines. & & Secretary Ellingwood reports that on account of the large flow of water in the Honerine tunnel, tun-nel, headway is being made at a rate of about three feet per day, instead of from ten to twenty feet as formerly. The flow of water has as yet had no very noticeable effect at the Honerine mine though the Bullion property has been entirely en-tirely drained and work in the mine has been resumed. re-sumed. At the Black Diamond also, the water is rapidly lowering and development there can be taken up at most any time. The drain tunnel will be pushed ahead as rapidly as conditions will I permit and in all probability this section of the country will be drained within the next few weeks. & & & The announcement is made that the control of the old Ashbrook mine in the Vipont district has f passed into the hands of a Michigan syndicate, . headed by Hackley and Hume, bankers, of Mus kegon. David D. Erwin will manage the property prop-erty for the new syndicate and a bright future is looked for. J8 j! The Daly-Judge mill is shut down for a couple of weeks to allow for the installation of the new machinery which is designed to increase its capacity capa-city to four hundred tons daily. The new machinery ma-chinery consists of a number of jigs and Wilfley tables and in addition to these a set of Sherman patent slime tanks will be installed. Development in the mine will go -on as usual and the crude ore will be shipped to the American Smelting company's com-pany's plant in the valley. & A. V. Taylor has returned from a visit of several sev-eral days in the Park City district and brought with him a number of samples from the J. I. C, Bonanza Consolidated and Wolverine mines. Mr. Taylor holds a bond on the Bonanza Consolidated Con-solidated and says that work is being done on that? "property, preliminary to commencing operations opera-tions on an extensive scale the means for which are .ow being provided. It is the intention to spend $25,000, if necessary to bring the property " to a producing stage and he has no doubt that 1 such a sum will be sufficient. This is another in dication of the growth of that part of the Park City district lying south of the large mines and from all indications this section will make a pretty pret-ty good record for itself during the year. |
