Show fl THE NEW SENATOR. fl Editor Goodwin's Weekly: fl The Utah Legislature has acted wisely and well B in its choice of United Staets; Senator. fl Within a year that body has lost four great B men, Senators Hanna, Hoar, Quay, and Vest. Each I a great man, but great in a unferent way, each B one a strong personality. It therefore behooves fl the people to strengthen that august body with fl the very best material at their disposal. fl The Honorable George Sutherland is, at least, fl the equal in character, education, and ability of fl any one Utah has yet sent to the upper branch of B the National Legislature, and is well qualified by B training, and temperament to represent our state fl with intelligence, dignity, and force in the councils B of the Nation. He is educated in the literary sense fl of the term, and possesed of marked ability as a B speaker. fl The people of Utah, the Legislature, and Mr. Sutherland are to be congratulated upon the happy outcome of his candidacy; and this feeling is in-creased in-creased when wo consider the situation now on before the Missouri Legislature, the recent political polit-ical imbroglio in New York, in which the ambitions of Senator Depew and ex-Governor Black clashed; and the malodorous scandals now being aired in Connecticut over the attempt to elect a successor to General Hawley.
