Show COL. LYON. : I '' The news comes down from the Northwest that J 2H Col. George G. Lyon is dead. He was a scholarly ; JH man, the editor of the Nevada Gold Hill News in ? 4 fl Bonanza days, and later the secretary of Gov. Kin- V h , fl kead. He went to the Northwest about 1882 and f . JH helped to build up the Times of Seattle; he ' -fl was a gifted, kindly man and will be greatly ' H missed and mourned. The stalwarts are nearly , J H all gone, the old Comstock stalwarts. They were J a select company. Nothing was too great for -ri'fl them to undertake to do; if they failed they tried I't'l again, and in prosperity or misfortune they kept Mr j jH their hearts warm and generous. Vhey are a big company on the other side now, and if the theory ' held by some is true, that we stait on the other Jkk f JH side where we leave off here, there will be some pa'fjM great oiu reunions in that clearer air of the Be- ml "fl yond. in I B |
