I ;: H i The gold room at the Alta club was decorated H I 1 on Tuesday as never before, the affair being the ! J I ' luncheon to fiffy ladies given by Mrs. Stephen H. in Babcock. The tables wore arranged in a Maltese S i cross, banked in tho center with palms, out of ' 4 which rose a great mass of American Beauties. ,t Lights with frosted globes glowing through red' j ' azalias studded the tables, and between tlienT, Hj f 1. I growing as it were in beds of smilax, were lilies" of H j I ' the valley and white Roman hyacinths. B .CI' Plumosa in profusion covered the chandelier Hj X and hung gracefully from the mantel, upon which H S ' masses of calla lilies seemed to grow. B I M J Around the mirror on the north wall masses of B . I holly were arranged, with hyacinths growing B a j around tho base, and an azalia in full bloom in tlie B ; i center. Mrs. Louise Smedley Smith was another charming charm-ing hostess of the day, receiving at the pretty Smedley home. Mrs. James W. Mrs. E. M. Allison entertained informally Tuesday Tues-day evening. Mrs. Holman gives a luncheon for Mrs. W. G. Sharp next Tuesday. Mrs. Joseph Jennings entertainad at cards last evening. An. informal gathering watched the old year out at the home of Mr. and Mrs. William Reid on Wednesday evening. Mr. and Mrs. Fenton gave a New Year dinner to a number of friends. The Misses Hanauer entertained at dinner New Year's. Mrs. Diehl entertained the Card club Tuesday afternoon. Miss Jane Mackintosh entertains next Saturday night Mrs. Rachel S. Miller entertained at dinner on New Year's day. Mrs. O. J. Salisbury entertained at a Theater party Monday night Mrs. James Jennings gave a children's party yesterday for the children, of Mrs. Walter Jennings.
