Show In its comments on the Land board investigation, investiga-tion, relating to the unsavory transactions in the Cnche county land sales, the Tribune has executed execu-ted another of its unique contortions. When the supposed frauds were at first exploited, the Tribune Tri-bune jeered at the whole affair, both by eupeptic cartoon and otherwise, and in a general way charged that this was but another effort to throw discredit on the Wells administration. But the wallow looked too tempting for the immaculate organ, and now it is churning up the affair with most vehement Industry and even, by inuendo, charging members of the board with complicity in the fraud. One member of the board is accused ac-cused of "diverting thousands of dollars to his profit", which should otherwise have'gone into the State treasury. That not only gives the Tribune a ridiculously radical change of front, but the paper Is again guilty of one of its treacherous and unwarranted attacks. Otherwise it would have had the decency to publish the name of the particular member of the board referred to and thus relieve the other members of the odium of such an accusation. |
